Barnes and Nobel University Online is asking for ridicule Today I discovered BN.COM advertising on-line courseware. Use of the courseware is free--as a come-on to sell the books selected as textbooks. Among the top offerings is a course in astrology, with fairly detailed outrageous claims. I think they're just begging for ridicule. Here, per fair use, are the web pages in question, and a message I sent them. |
Submitted via the BNU feedback web page 2005-02-07: I noticed that you are offering a course in astrology, as if astrological knowledge were anything other than superstition. You should realize that this makes BNU a laughingstock. I think you don't honestly believe that astrology shows how the sun, moon and planets "bestow special characteristics on those influenced by these signs", nor that it has anything to do with "how your life's course relates to the heavens". If you really believed you could do something with this sympathetic magic, you would have used that power to win the Randi Prize <http://www.randi.org/research/>. The world is laughing at you. I'm willing to use my personal web pages to ridicule you for this.
