Question/Problem: |
| 128 kbps
fixed-bit-rate stereo 44.1 stereo mp3 files which
play perfectly on all other devices make skipping
noises on this device, always at the same point in
the music. The firmware on the device is
SDMX1-0.97C dated 2004/10/26. Please provide
details of exactly what mp3 encoding settings are
required for correct playback on this device, so
that I will not have to conclude that it does not
play mp3 files as advertised. |

Hello,
Thank you for
contacting SanDisk Technical Support.
This
is a FAT issue.
Please remove the
battery. Let’s try and format the Player; this
will likely correct this issue. Please plug the
Player into the LEFT USB port in the BACK of the
computer. (NOTE: formatting will erase all data,
perform a backup first) Please right Click on
my computer and Select Manage. (NOTE: format will
erase all data, perform a backup of the data
first) When Computer Management comes up,
please click on Disk Management on the Left hand
Side. After clicking on Disk Management you should
now have a List of Drives in the Right Side panel.
On the Right Look for the Player it may show
up as Disk 1 Removable. Right Click on Disk 1
Removable and select Format and Format the Player
. (FAT 32, standard, full; this will more than
likely bring the device back to a useable
state.) If you do not have the Format option
please Select New Partition and just keep clicking
next through the Wizard that appears. After
you have formatted the Player please Test it.
Have you tried other files(MP3s or WMA)?
What are the Kbps(bitrate) of those files?
(MP3 has to be 128Kbps;WMA has to be 64Kbps)
Where did you get the files? Are they
licensed files; right click on the file go to the
license tab? Licensed files will not play on
this device, you can query the Internet for a tool
to remove the license, SanDisk does not support
this and we cannot advise you which tool to use.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Included in this email are the manual and
FAQ for general
usage.
