Mission Chamber Orchestra

Mission Chamber Orchestra, directed by Emily Ray, under the auspices of National Association of Composers in the USA, San Francisco branch, present a concert of contemporary music 3:00 PM 23 April 2010 at St Mark's Episcopal Church in Palo Alto, California, USA. Simchas, the final movement of Sages of Chelm, is programmed to start the concert. Admission: $22 ($17 students and seniors).

Music Intellectuals

Society of Music Intellectuals presented a concert of music by Armenian composers and Fields, 4:00 PM 10 February 2010 in Aram Khatchaturian Chamber Music Hall, Yerevan, Armenia. Fields's Tidbits received its world premiere.

Gloria Chuang and Friends

Dr. Gloria Chuang performed a concert titled "Women Composers, Women Performers," 7:30 PM 18 April 2009 at Capitol Lakes in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. Kabala closed the concert. Fields attended.

Armenian Contemporary Ensemble

Eduard Sadoyan's International League of Music Intellectuals, in Yerevan, Armenia, gave a concert of American and Armenian music in honor of the centennial of William Saroyan, 13 April 2009 at the Aram Khatchaturian Philharmonic Hall. Fireheart led off the concert, directed by Ruben Asatryan.

Chamber Music Today

Douglas S. McNair, emerging composer and senior vice president of research at Cerner Corporation, posted a web-log (blog) entry praising Fields's music and values 15 March 2009.

League/ICSM

League of Composers/ISCM gave its 8 PM 7 February 2009 concert at Tenri Cultural Institute in New York City. Fireheart closed the concert. Fields attended.

Affinity

Affinity, a Seattle-based chamber ensemble, gave a workshop of readings of works by living composers 8 PM 23 January 2009 at Good Shepherd Center in Seattle/Wallingford. Fireheart was among the works explored. Fields attended.

Festival of Contemporary Music

Sixth Annual Festival of Contemporary Music was held 8 pm August 15 and 16 at San Francisco Community Music Center. On the first of these concerts, Rollerchant was performed by Amy Joseph. Fields attended.

SummerTrios

At the final concert of SummerTrios Adult Chamber Music Camp's "Concerto Program", 2:30 PM 13 June 2008, at Bryn Mawr College's Erdman Hall, under the direction of Yuval Waldman, Fireheart received its world premiere performance. The performance was recorded. Fields attended. Performers were: Frances Tate, flute; Joseph Smith, clarinet; Phillip O'Banion, marimba and vibraphone; Noam Sivan, piano; Igor Szwec, violin; and James Cooper III, cello.

Gloria Chuang on TV and radio in Hong Kong

Dr. Chuang recorded The Winds of Springtime as part of an interview--concert combination for The Works, on RTHK, Hong Kong, 8 May 2008 7pm.

TwelveToneToyBox

Twelve-Tone Toy Box is a Java-based music-educational web applet that Fields created in 1997. Java technology subsequently changed substantially, so for almost ten years, Twelve-Tone Toy Box sat dormant. 2008 February 3, Fields re-visited it, and with a bit of effort, got it working again, for your pleasure.

Gloria Chuang and Friends

Dr. Chuang and Friends presented a concert 7 PM 21 January 2008 at the auditorium of Oakwood Village West, Madison, WI. Arbor Nocturne anchored on the program, framed by offerings of Schuman and Saint-Saens. Fields attended.

Terry Winter Owens

A small, private memorial service for Terry Winter Owens was held September 2007 in New York City.

MAPTA

Madison Area Piano Teachers Association held its annual Young Composers Festival 11 September 2007. This was the culmination of an August 2007 composition contest judged by Fields, and Fields lectured on musical values from the unique perspective of a composer.

Miami Section, ISCM

Rollerchant was performed by by violoncellist Craig Hultgren at the Wolfsonian Museum of Florida International University in Miami Beach, 3 pm, 14 April 2007, for the annual festival of the Miami Chapter of the International Society of Contemporary Music.

Minnesota Orchestra Readings and Composer Institute

2006 May 5-12 was the Composers Institute and Reading Sessions of Minnesota Orchestra in Minneapolis. As part of the festival, a reading of Hubble Space Telescope Views was given with Fields in attendance.

SCI Region VII

2006 April 2-5 was the regional conference of Society of Composers, Incorporated at University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, in conjunction with the John Donald Robb Composer's Conference. Rollerchant was performed by Dana Winograd, with Fields in attendance.

NUVOVOX

2006, March: A flier from the Diana Barnhart American Song Forum announces that Shakespeare's Eighteenth Sonnet was a finalist in the 2006 Nuvovox Choral Award Competition.

SCI Region VI

2006 February 9-12, Fields attended the regional conference of Society of Composers, Incorporated at Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Victoria Bass gave the world premiere performance of Rollerchant, and was met with whooping applause.

CENNY

2005 August 22, Composers Ensemble of Northern New York picked Rollerchant to be recorded by violoncellist Mathias Wexler at the Crane School of Music at State University of New York in Potsdam.

Kalvos and Damian's New Music Bazaar

2005 March 26, Fields was a guest on WGDR Radio in Plainfield, Vermont for one of the last episodes of Kalvos and Damian's New Music Bazaar, which had its final weekly broadcast 2005 September 21. Fields was interviewed, and his Sages of Chelm was aired in its entirety.
